Will Page is back on the Mix in 2004... DIGGING IN THE VAULTS: ROSSLYN 2004 As we proceed. Building on the back of the acclaimed 'No More Trouble 2003' mix, the latest Mix CD from Will Page continues his personal goal of seeking out and exposing music that would otherwise remain unheard. The realisation has long been that good music doesn't necessarily come from where you would expect. The reaction has always been to continue 'Getting the message across ...Without crossing over'. The 2004 mix - 'Digging in the Vaults,' - continues a growth pattern of digging in the crates and dropping mix tapes. Run the line on the cuts and you got Boogie Down Rican poetry from La Bruja , rarities like Congress Alley, the return of Adriana Evans and a whole lotta exclusives that have been sourced from Scotland to New York, Toronto and beyond. Respect is due to AJ Nuttall from the www.yush2k.co.uk label who dedicated his production and editing skills to this year's mix project from its conception through to delivery. Will's education in worldwide jazz jive began in '93 at the Straight no Chaser 'Shape of Things to Come' concert which introduced him to their open-ended eclecticism in music and culture. Now, as a regular contributor to the publication which taught him so much, he spreads the word on festivals like North Sea Jazz , profiling Djinji Brown and gaining exclusive access to Rokia Traore in advance of the 2004 BBC World Music Awards . His most high profile work to date remains tracking down the elusive legend Eumir Deodato for a world exclusive interview. Forthcoming, the first feature article on the long awaited debut LP from poet, DJ and producer Rich Medina . Will also works with film production company Analysis Lost on a number of projects; examples of their work can be downloaded from www.thosemediaguys.com Destination out and about and Edinburgh's nightlife comes correct at Departure Lounge on the last Friday of every second month and good looking out the weekly innovative grooves and classic dance moves at the essential Trouble sessions. By the way... Digging in the Vaults: Rosslyn 2004 was recorded in the small village of Roslin on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The village has always attracted a cult interest due to the mystical history of Rosslyn Chapel . All that is about to change with the global success of the Dan Brown novel The Da Vinci Code ! Ron Howard (Producer of the 24 series) and an all-star cast have been drafted in for the Hollywood blockbuster movie treatment. Read up and go there! Enjoy!
